Re: producing and proforming live
software is the key these days, so i would say a decent computer, controller and monitors would be the place to start...you can always add outboard gear as the studio grows :)

Im using abelton and the overdrives and amps in there arnt sounding anywhere near as dirty or underground aas the ones used all the gang its a dream of mine to create these awsome 303 sounds that are coming out now and any help would mean alot to me. Is there other overdrives I need or plug ins or is it a certain formula of effects I need?

Re: producing and proforming live
i use abl with fruity loops (im a noob) and it works best, if you have a eq first and turn the bass a bit down, than distort that sound and add a eq with louder higher filters... works for me

Re: producing and proforming live
you can even play aound a bit. first an eq than some various distortions and eq settings. you can get very wierd sounds with that :) also a subtle chorus can add some substance :)

Re: producing and proforming live
yep... also try some delay or let them both play a lead melody and use a stereo enhancer with one of them... sounds awesome :)

Re: producing and proforming live
I've got an old bass-station run through a Boss Fuzz box. I usually sample a loop or two then run the bass-station in support. I'm a hardware man, no PC in my set-up!

Re: producing and proforming live
I've used Phoscyon Vst plugin, that can create some very filthy acid, not sure what the pro's use though. http://www.d16.pl/phoscyon

Re: producing and proforming live
A DAW with a launchpad is a good way to start, but if you really want to work "à l'ancienne" you can take a look to an old MC909, Akai MPC, Korg Electribe EMX1, Native Instrument Maschine, Roland AIRA serie, and per caso an Acid Machine or soft : TB303, TB3, x0x, Acilab, Future Retro, Phoscyon, Audiolrealism Bassline...take a look at http://www.acidvoice.com/
